Yes, you can! On Currently, your visibility on the Map is entirely in your control. If you don’t want to appear on the Map — whether always or for a specific moment — you can easily hide.
🚫 When You WON’T Appear on the Map
Your moment will not show up on the Map if:
Condition | Result |
You skip Check-In | ❌ Not visible on the Map |
Your moment is Followers Only | ❌ Not shown publicly |
Your profile is Private | ❌ Hidden from Map entirely |
You disable location access | ❌ Moment can’t be mapped |
✅ How to Stay Off the Map (Always or Moment-by-Moment)
Option 1: Don’t Add a Location (Check-In)
When posting a moment, simply leave the Check-In section blank
Your moment will appear on your profile and to followers, but not on the Map
Option 2: Change Privacy to Followers Only
Tap the Privacy setting while posting your moment
Select Followers Only
This hides the moment from Map and Discover — only your followers can see it
Option 3: Make Your Profile Private
Go to Settings → Privacy → Toggle Private Account ON
Your moments, even with Check-Ins, will never appear on the Map or Discover
Option 4: Disable Location Access on Your Device
On iOS:
Settings → Currently → Location → Select “Never” or “Ask Next Time”On Android:
Settings → Apps → Currently → Permissions → Turn off Location
📍 What If I Already Posted a Mapped Moment?
Currently does not yet support editing moment privacy or location after posting, so to remove yourself from the Map:
You’ll need to delete the moment from your profile
Then repost it without Check-In or with different privacy settings
